In our latest class we worked with close quarter.
Something that might feel easy because you know what is happening. But do you
have this heighten understanding while waiting in queue for a bus, a train or
just at the counter of a gas station? Next time notice what you have in your
arms, were they are. Who else is there and how have you placed yourself in
relation to other people. Not that you should get paranoid, but use it to learn
by reading yourself and reading others.
Some people don’t mind standing close, while others
don’t mind standing in the rain just so they don’t stand close to somebody. But
they are standing natural and being just a part of the crowed.
Getting this “natural” feeling in class is hard, very
hard, since you know that you are there to work on a concept, and that concept
is to be u of the signals in confined spaces.
Getting students to turn off the danger signals in
their brain, is hard, and you shouldn’t get them to work against some good
reactions. But what you need them to do is connect those good reactions to the
situation. And by using the scenario training to “code “ and connect to the signals
in the brain, they will enhance their chances for “seeing it coming” in future
situations.
